Note: Whilst this call is using all of the MindMAP principles, it is delivered in a more ‘condensed’ and intensive way than ‘normal’ coaching sessions would be delivered due to the fact that we are having a SINGLE one-off call to assist with a challenge rather than engaging in a series of coaching sessions.

    Points To Ponder

The call starts with asking Kevin to restate and re-explain why he took advantage of the call and what he most wanted to get from it

After identifying the challenge, we identified how it was making him feel and the impact on his life

The primary feeling/emotion was identified as frustration (as a MindMAP coach I understand that frustration belongs to a specific emotion-set)

We looked at the cost of that emotion and the ‘recipe’ Kevin used to create it

We discussed the opposite recipe that Kevin has used to feel calmer and more ‘on track’

Kevin’s primary THOUGHTS around his challenge was that it was a nutrition problem to be solved.

Through exploration we identified that the REAL challenge was how Kevin manages his energy and that THAT was primarily related to his anxiety

Kevin had a ‘lightbulb moment’ around anxiety being ‘the thing’ and that the nutrition ‘thing was not the thing’.

We explored what Kevin has done to address anxiety and frustration in the past and how he could bring some of that knowledge and experience to his current situation

When Kevin ran out of ideas for what ELSE he could do, he was offered and invited to some guidance.

Because this was a solo session, the guidance wasn’t offered as a ‘pick one’ option from ‘the magic three’ but rather, as an offering of possibilities

The impact and possible overwhelm was assessed and checked and Kevin described feeling calm and positive

We discussed the concept of ‘role model’ and how it may be negatively impacting Kevin and his family’s experience of him.

If this were a part of a coaching SERIES I would have not covered so much ground and dug deeper into the specifics of anxiety and how it was impacting Kevin to ‘join the dots’ more strongly and have him really understand the cost and impact and connect more deeply to the need to address anxiety as the primary focus.
